The best possible CSR Involvement days

As a part of Medtronic‘s CSR policies, they fund 3 or 4 involvement days for their staff to get hands on with smaller projects. These days are a great opportunity for the team to be a part of Medtronic’s CSR vision, but also deepen vital social connections between team members.

Their rice packing event with us ticked all their boxes:

• The 60-strong team had a brilliant day – it was high-energy and fun.
• It was a hands-on activity, working together to pack 28,000 meals.
• The story behind what they were doing and the impact it would have was inspirational.

Getting hands-on with CSR

Research shows how keen employees are to experience the CSR work their businesses are engaging in. They want more than just knowing about what their company does; they want to take part.

Rice packing offered exactly this opportunity for Medtronic’s team. 60 of them packed 28,000 high-nutrition rice meals with huge enthusiasm for the task.

Making a real impact

The excitement about the task was underpinned by a real understanding of the impact. The food they packed was heading to Zimbabwe, where children receive meals through their schools.

For many children, this will be their primary source of nutrition. Every meal the Medtronic team packed will arrive in the hands of a child who really needs this food.

And because they are served the meals at school, the impact is bigger than nourishing their bodies. Attendance at school keeps them learning and developing essential skills for their future. The food is just the beginning of sustained change for their future.
