We’re proud to announce that Coventry Foodbank has won a Big Issue Changemakers of 2025 award! With 14 foodbank centres across Coventry, the team are committed to providing emergency food parcels for people facing food crisis. Beyond this simple support, their signposting helps people get out of crisis and begin building a more stable base for the future.
But it’s the Sow to Grow garden project that really caught MP Zarah Sultana:
“The work [Sow to Grow] do is incredible! They’re growing their own vegetables and things outside. It’s a very concrete area, but they’ve managed to put some compost things in place. They’re huge Changemakers.”
MP Zarah Sultana
The transformation of an industrial space to a green, productive garden doesn’t just provide food. It provides a context for wellbeing support and a social space for people to get outdoors, particularly valuable for those who don’t have access to a garden. The garden is supported by volunteers who are at risk of food insecurity, providing connection, purpose and skills development to support their journey to stability.
Congratulations to the whole Foodbank team. This award is well-deserved!
